Thank you for coming to my Blog

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you will enjoy my “tales from the road”. If you are a cyclist, I hope the stories and musings you find posted here encourage you to ride and to reminisce about your achievements. If you are not a cyclist, I hope you will take a chance, throw your leg over the bicycle and see where your bicycle can take you.

First Ride of 2010

I wish you a Happy New Year. I hope 2010 has wonderful things in store. I pray for safe rides, good friends and better opportunities.

My first ride of the year was Sunday, January 17. I met my friend Dennis at the parking lot of the Madison County Bicycle Trail in Collinsville IL. The temperature for mid-January was decent, mid-30's with a light wind. There was left over snow on the trail, but nothing too bothersome or dangerous.

The ride had a nice leisurely pace, just 13.5 miles per hour. While Dennis and I were both cold at the start, we warmed up just fine after a few miles. Dennis and I completed one lap on the trail, a little over 31 miles. For the first ride of the year that is fine by me. Longer rides will come as I regain fitness and loose some of the holiday weight.

Dennis and I are still chatting about our September 2009 Last Chance 1,200 kilometer ride and reliving the adventure and fun over and over. We also spent time chatting about the upcoming rides for 2010. Dennis also told me of a few corrections I should make to my Last Chance report. I forgot to mention that Dennis was there at the end waiting to congratulate me as I pulled in.
